New Rowers

Hello and Welcome to our New Rowers section. If you are thinking about coming to try out rowing, we hope this section answers some of your questions.

When can I try rowing?
The summer months are very busy with regattas, so the autumn is a very good time of the year to start rowing since we are able to give our undivided attention. Having said that, you are welcome to have a go and join in any time of the year.

Wendy Pearce co-ordinates the new rowers programme and has set up a Sunday morning taster session for any adult wishing to learn. If you are under 16 years old please go to the junior rowing section of the website.

What can I expect?
Initially you will be put in the boat with some of our experienced rowers so that you can copy them. The cox is in charge of all the crew and will give you clear instructions of what to do.

We like to introduce our new rowers in groups of five or six and generally keep new recruits together for several weeks to master the basics. You will find that you will also learn a whole new language of rowing phrases!

How Much does it cost?

The first session is free! After that you may wish to consider membership or pay a day membership fee of £5 a session.

Comprehensive details of the induction course can be found in the Courses section of the website. If you have any further questions please contact Wendy.
